Alicudi

ISLAND OF ALICUDI

The youngest of the Aeolian archipelago
discover it from the Eros Hotel

"Alicudi is wild, naked and raw."
If you choose this island, you love the silence, the rustling of the wind in the trees and the volcanic rocks overhanging the sea, the single and unique nature of a magical land. There are not many paved roads, nor car traffic or city noises, nor outdoor night lighting.
Alicudi offers clear and starry skies, welcomes in small houses with hospitable people and the most common local transport is the one riding the donkeys that climb every kind of path. Alicudi is the perfect synthesis of an uncontaminated paradise, where relaxation and contact with nature are the main attractions of an island out of the world, to spend your romantic holiday in the Aeolian Islands.

A journey to discover the island

Once at the small port of Alicudi, it is easy to perceive the pure and uncontaminated character of the island. The inhabited centre extends from the port to the "Montagnola", where it is possible to admire small groups of houses clinging to the slope, with a splendid view of the sea, reachable through small paths.

The port is the first real attraction of the island: here you can find the few commercial activities on the island. From the arrival, the fascinating discovery begins towards the top of the mountain, walking along the Contrada Tonna, you will notice the characteristic architectural style of the Aeolian Islands.

Further on, towards the summit of a now inactive volcano, in Contrada San Bartolo, there is the church in honour of the Patron Saint of the Aeolian Islands. It is not just a monument dedicated to the Saint, but a suggestive place suspended in the clouds with a breathtaking view. On the eastern side of Alicudi, there is Contrada Sgurbio, with only five houses, each with the name of one of the five senses.

The sea of Alicudi

A small island that rises from the sea, but rich in mysterious caves and beaches, inaccessible by land, Alicudi shows its coasts full of charm to the tourists who visit it every year. The boat ride is the best way to decipher the mysteries of its caves and coves that hide small corners of paradise, where the crystal clear sea clashes on the rocky coasts of the island.

Alcudi also offers small pebble bays within easy walking distance, just a short walk from the centre, such as the lovely Porto Beach: on one side the clear sea, on the other the polychrome Aeolian houses to brighten up the inland panorama. A stone's throw from the port is the Spiaggia della Bazzina, a small inlet, also with pebbles, where you will find a clear and shallow sea.
